Vancouver Self Defense: Know Your Rights
Hit and Run Self Defense is about egoless street survival and doing whatever is necessary to ensure the safety of you and your family. However, in our highly litigious society, you do not need the additional grief of costly and unnecessary legal battles.
This is page is not a legal reference and cannot advise on the laws specific to your area. It is rather a reminder that we unfortunately live with a system just as concerned about the attacker (sometimes more it seems) as the victims; and there can be repercussions for both sides. Below is a PDF snapshot of the Criminal Code from the Department of Justice Canada’s website that you may find helpful. Sections 34–37 relate to many of the items in question. This is but one reference in your review of what is acceptable in the justice system and your right to defend yourself. You are encouraged to learn and understand the laws in your area. If unsure of a definition, seek further legal clarification. Link to: Criminal Code Snapshot "Defence of Person" |
